Sulfate-Free Shampoo Review

Hello lovelies. So in my quest for beautiful, healthy hair, I stumbled across this Sulfate-Free line of shampoo from Organix and picked up their Quenched Sea Mineral Moisture shampoo. What did I think of this and my sulfate-free experience in general? Keep reading to find out.

Why Sulfate-Free: Do a quick Google search and you will find many websites proclaiming the benefits of sulfate-free shampoo. Mainly, sulfate-free shampoo causes less frizz and helps color treated hair stay brighter longer. I’ve also heard that using a regular shampoo dries hair out which in turn causes the scalp to product more oil. In contrast, sulfate-free shampoos are gentler, meaning that they will strip your hair of less oil, making it more oily in the short-term, but ultimately less oily since your scalp will no longer be reacting to over-drying.

What I Thought of Organix: At first, I had to wash my hair more often. It was just too greasy. But after a few weeks, I’ve gotten back to my routine of washing it every few days. One hard adjustment is that this shampoo does not lather and sometimes, because of that I use a little more than usual (even though I don’t need to!)

Price: Between $5-$10 most places I’ve seen this.

Cruelty-Free: Yup, yup.

  1. Sulfate AND Paraben free is the key. If you’re looking for an inexpensive line use the Herbal Essences Naked products. I use them on my daughter (I use the salon line Alterna Bamboo).Sulfates will destroy your hair color and the parabens are horrible for you. My stylist gave me this advice…use a quarter size of shampoo, and wash your scalp, that is the key. Then use the same amount of conditioner but only on the length of your hair and not on the scalp. Once you get in the habit of doing this, your hair shouldn’t be greasy so quickly, your hair and head will thank you. And you’ll notice your shampoo and conditioner last a lot longer 🙂

  2. How would you describe the scent? I’ve been wanting to try something like this but I love my good smelling yet probably bad for my hair shampoos!

  3. I had no idea organix had a sulfate-free shampoo. I’ll need to try it out. The sulfate free thing intrigues me because I am constantly dying my hair and it bothers me when it starts to fade. Thanks for the review.

    • I know! Of course I jump on the bandwagon when I haven’t dyed my hair in almost a year and have cut off most of the dyed part. lol

  4. Good review! I like the L’Oreal EverPure sulfate-free shampoo & conditioner. Doesn’t fade my color and makes my hair feel super soft. I like the Ion brand one you can get at Sally Beauty as well. But I think in gonna have to give the Organix a try sometime. I saw Target carries it now.

  5. Hi V, Even tho…some of the reviews that U do doesn’t really apply to much for Kelly being this one, because of the wearing of a wig will take place for Her. It still educates me in all things of beauty products & that’s why i still *Enjoy not only your Blog but other woman that share the same desires as U do….& all your readers of your blog including me…..thanks U Kelly

  6. I’ve tried this brand before. Both shampoo and conditioner. I don’t remember why I never repurchased it… I think it might’ve been just because it didn’t last me very long. I do remember loving the smell!
