Nars Lip Pencil in Cruella and Rikugien Swatches and Review

If you’re a Sephora insider, you might be aware that the birthday present this year is two mini Nars lip pencils. We have a satin lip pencil in Rikugien and a velvet matte lip pencil in Cruella. Want to see swatches and know what i think? Keep reading.

Color:Β Rikugien is a a brown-y pink lip color. It is semi opaque, but you can layer it for more coverage. Cruella is an opaque, bright, blue-toned red. I should say upfront that I am OBSESSED with Cruella

Texture:Β As these are two types of lip pencils, you might suspect that the texture is different. Cruella is on the creamy side for a lip pencil, but not overly so. It’s easy to apply as a lip liner because you can get nice, clean lines. Rikugien is much creamier and in my opinion, harder to use as a lipliner as it tends to smudge and the lines don’t look too crisp when you first apply them anyway.

Wear:Β Rikgien only lasted a few hours on me, which is pretty typical wear time for a lip product. Cruella, because it is matte and less creamy lasted the whole workday and lunch! I’m including a picture below for you to get a good idea of how it looked after work.

  1. I’m liking how Rikugien looks on you. Did you also get the Nars sharpener? I’ve just put an order for Dragon Girl, and it’s supposed to arrive sometime next week. Excited, but I’m looking for a more affordable sharpener.
