Get Ready with Me…My Engagement?!?!

You heard right! Over the weekend, I wanted to take advantage of the sunny weather by photographing a get ready with me for a date night…except the date night turned into a proposal! My boyfriend of over four years asked me to marry him and I said yes! I’m so happy to share this news with all of you, my blogging friends. Picture 27 I’d love to share the details of the wedding with you as they come. We haven’t set a date yet. I don’t want to plan it in less than a year, so I was hoping for March of next year, but my boyfriend fiance (!) is in the accounting field so he doesn’t want to do anything before tax season is over. For now, let me share my makeup with you. I didn’t photograph my full outfit you know, in the excitement of getting engaged, but I’ll leave you with my makeup look. I was going for a more natural look so I did BB cream with a bit of bronzer, subtle brown eyeshadow (shimmery on the lid, matte in the crease), brown eyeliner on my top lash line, mascara and a bit of a very natural pink gloss. Engagement Makeup Hope you enjoyed. Are you engaged or married? Let me know how wedding planning went in the comments below!

    • Thank you! I suspect the budgeting part will be the stressful thing. I more or less have this thing planned on Pinterest otherwise, ha!

    • Thanks so much for the link. I’ll have to check it out. I’ve been scouting out a lot of wedding sites since the weekend, haha

  1. Congratulation V on your wedding engagement. I always advise bride-to-be to plan their wedding events 6 months ahead of time. Theme, budget, venue and season have to be taken into consideration when choosing the big day. Love your natural makeup look πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! I definitely want to give it at least a year from now, but honestly we probably won’t start planning it until June, because we are moving to a different state at the end of May. It’s a busy time!

  2. YAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! How exciting!! Was the engagement a surprise? Did he pick out the ring? And what a beautiful ring it is! I’m looking forward to reading more about it… and btw… very, very pretty look, too. πŸ˜€

  3. Congratulations!! So exciting!! I got married in October and the planning process went very smooth for us. My husband was involved in the entire process and was a huge help! We did absolutely everything ourselves for the wedding. Best of luck!!

  4. Wow Congratulations! I’ve been engaged for almost 1 year now, have a huge wedding head on the go haha. I started up a separate blog purely for my wedding fans, it’s a bit thin on the ground at the moment but as we get more and more things into focus within this next year I plan to post lots more. We’re getting married next April. It’s all very exciting! Congrats again, lovely news πŸ™‚ xx

      • Here you are πŸ™‚ – https://wordpress.com/stats/melissalesliebridal.wordpress.com

As I’ve said it’s a bit thin on the ground… also nothing much has been happening over December/January with it being the festive period! I had an appointment with a weddings advisor at the weekend as we’re going to get married in Mexico (we’re from Scotland) and are looking to have around 20 people there, then a bigger reception at home where we will have 200-300 guests. I have lots to put into my wedding blog over the next few days… it’s just finding the time! πŸ™‚ xxx

      • Oh wow, that sounds lovely! I actually wanted to do small destination ceremony and larger party after, but my fiance’s remaining grandparents aren’t in shape to travel and I don’t think my parents want to take that much time off of work.

      • Oh I know what you mean! We’ve been through all of these discussions many a times, so much so in fact, that I got sick of talking about it and had a mini breakdown one day haha. The only thing I can reiterate which others have said to me, is that it’s about you and your now fiancΓ©. We’ve had to accept that some family members and close friends sadly will not make it for our ceremony, but we’re settled knowing that we are doing what we want to do and have promised to make it a great reception at home for those who missed out on the ceremony πŸ™‚ xx

      • Thanks and looking forward to hearing your future wedding plans via your blog! πŸ™‚ exciting times lay ahead! Xx

  5. Congratulations!! So exciting, enjoy the planning of the day, and remember, don’t do anything for your wedding to please anybody other than yourselves. It’s your day, and nobody elses! Can’t wait to read about how your plans go!

  6. Congrats! Beautiful ring! I’ve been married for 10 years and we did a small and pretty affordable ceremony. I’ve never regretted doing it that way, it was very nice and also nice to start our marriage out without any debt lol. Very excited for you!! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks so much, Karen. Right now we are planning a small wedding (about 50 people). Only problem is that a lot of venues seem to have food minimums! Did you have that problem?

      • We got married in the courtyard of this old building downtown where we live and they only charged us $50 to have the ceremony there so we lucked out. I didn’t have a reception, we left for our honeymoon right after. Nobody cared if we had a reception or not and I just didn’t want to deal with it lol. But you gotta do what you want to do, that’s all that matters in the end. πŸ˜‰

  7. congrats and pintrest is deff wonderful im planning mine and my moms wedding mostly her’s off of there good luck

  8. Congratulations! Very happy for you both and wish you all the best in your future πŸ™‚ Gorgeous ring by the way! Hope we have lots of wedding related blogs coming up? πŸ˜‰ xoxo

    • Thank you! I’m looking forward to blogging about the wedding planning, but probably not until we’re further into the engagement πŸ™‚

  9. Oh that’s amazing news! Congratulations! That ring is so gorgeous! I’m hoping that some day my boyfriend will ask me to marry him and mean it. He says it an awful lot but I just assume he’s messing around lol. Yesterday I actually came across a wedding venue that I’d love to get married in. It’s a castle and is actually not too far from where my boyfriend lives lol (He lives in Wales and I live in England)!

    • Aww well best of luck. I think if he jokes around about it, he is probably thinking about it to some extent. Best wishes πŸ™‚

  10. HUGE congratulations to you both huni!!! What a beautiful ring!!! Are you still in shock or has it sunk in yet?! hehe πŸ™‚ *hugs* Karen X

    Ps: beautiful make-up!

    • I don’t think it’s going to sink in for a while. My ring had to resized so I don’t have it right now and since we’re moving at the end of May, we probably won’t even begin the planning process until June. I think once that happens it will start to feel real
