And a very happy Monday to you! I recently got this lipstick set from ColourPop cosmetics for my anniversary (thanks, babe!) and decided with all the hype surrounding them, I had to do a review. They’re great lipsticks for the price, but don’t be fooled by people who act as if these are the best products ever. The lippie stix have great pigmentation and durability, but the texture doesn’t even begin to compete with higher end lipsticks like YSL or Nars. So while I love these, I won’t be giving up my luxury lipstick addiction just yet. To see what I think of the specific colors, read on!
Ace: Ace is a pale pink color. The swatch is a little deceptive–it’s not quite that light in real life. This one was fairly close to my natural lip color, so it was hard to judge how long it lasted. It went a good few hours without needing touchups. At the end of the night, I did notice a faint pink stain on my lips that did not look like the pink in the swatch. I find this happens sometimes with longer lasting lipsticks. One of the ingredients has more pigment and is longer lasting than the others. Hence, the color distortion. As much as I like this color on me, I think this is the weak link of the set as it will most likely be too pale for most skin tones.
Chella: ColourPop describes this as a bright, peachy, coral, but as you can see from the swatch, it looks more like a light, bright orange. This color could be nice for a fun makeup look. Like Ace, this has a cream finish, but I find this to be slightly creamier than Ace, which tended to feel a bit thick and drying.
Parker: Parker is a really fun addition to this set. Although ColourPop calls this a mid-tone, warm nude, let’s face it: it’s brown with slight pink undertones. Because of the pink undertones and the fact that it isn’t too dark, I think more people will find this to be a more wearable way to wear the brown lipstick trend that is coming back into fashion.
Thirsty: Thirsty is actually fairly close in color to Pasties. A berry shade, this one is a satin finish, which is more matte, and a bit more toned down.
Pasties: What a name! Of all the lipsticks, the texture of this one is my favorite. This is their hyper glossy formula. It doesn’t last as long as the the matte or cream shades, but it simply glides on the lips. Brighter and glossier than Thirsty, this color is the show stopper of the pack. Not for the faint of heart, this is nevertheless a good way to dip your toe into the purple lip trend. Leaning more toward magenta, this is easier to pull off than blue purple shades.
Cougar: It’s time to show my hand. This lipstick is the whole reason I wanted this set. I saw an old picture of Jane Russell wearing a pink toned red lipstick, and I knew that I wanted one for myself. Although, I think it’s a bit irrelevant to talk about how beautiful a lipstick color is when everyone has different skin tones, boy is this shade gorgeous! It’s not often that red lipstick looks good on me with no other makeup on, but this one did. This shade is also matte, which gives it that cool, retro vibe.
Final Thoughts: I think the shade selection in this is mostly good. This set gives you trendy colors like orange, purple and brown, in case you wanted to try those out, along with more staple colors. However, these colors won’t be suited to all skin tones. You’ll want to check out a few swatches and compare before you buy. In addition, these colors aren’t sold separately so if you want one of these shades, you’ll have to buy them all. At $30, this set works out to $5 a lipstick, which is the cost of individual lipsticks, so you aren’t saving any money by buying the set either. Although I’m really happy with this and like every color in the set, I wish they would sell these lipsticks individually because people who don’t like one or more shades won’t be getting their money’s worth. All in all, if you like these swatches, this is a steal. If there are colors you aren’t sure on, this might be worth skipping.
So what do you think? Do you own any ColourPop lippie stix? What do you think about the hype surrounding this brand? Let me know in the comments below.
I like them. I probably won’t buy any more. 🙂
Do you have a lot already?
I have 2. I have Tootsie and Pinch. I like them okay. To me, they aren’t the greatest, but they are pretty good for 5 bucks. I feel the same about the shadows. I have a few, and I like them, but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing more.
Gotcha. I know how you feel. I like them, but unless I place a big order, I don’t really like paying for shipping and not being able to see the product in person
Totally agree. I feel like there are some products in the drugstore that are just as good, and probably in the same price range when you factor in shipping costs. 🙂
So jealous! This is on my wish list! I love the Colourpop lippies, I don’t know about comparing them to brands like YSL because the price difference is huge but for $5 I think they’re pretty great! Your lip swatches make me want this set even more!
Go for it! I only compare them to higher end brands because the way a lot of people talk about them, you’d think they were better. For the price though, they are awesome.
Yeah, that makes sense! I think I like them as much as my Mac lipsticks, they seem to have the same amount of wear time. 🙂
Well that’s pretty awesome. They are definitely cheaper than Mac
I like their Lippie Stix (I own 3). They’re not the best lipsticks ever but they’re pretty nice. I love their shadows though, which are amazing and worth the hype.
I purchased a few of their eyeshadows too. So far I’ve only tried one, but they are really lovely!
I want more of the shadows. I want to try their highlighters too.
If you do, let me know how they are. What eyeshadows do you have? I went with some bright ones, but I’m interested to know if they’re neutrals are any good
I have a review & swatches of them on my blog (search the April archives). I have 8 so far. I want the Metamorphosis quad & a few other singles. The metallics/ultra metallic/pearlized ones are the best. The matte shades are decent but could be better.
Thanks! I’ll have to check it out
I like the look of these swatches. I think they look really nice on you. I like Colourpop and I feel like it’s a nice and affordable brand. 🙂
Thank you! I think I got lucky with none of them being unwearable on me.
I was eyeing this set online. I really like all of the colors! You’re so welcome! 🙂
Ah, ColourPop is one of those brands I’d love to try 🙂 Their highlighters also look pretty!
If you try their highlighters, let me know what you think! So far I’ve only tried the eyeshadow and their lippie stix
They don’t ship to Germany yet, but I hope I’ll get to try their products someday 🙂
Hopefully when they do expand their shipping, they won’t kill you with the cost of it
Yeah, I’m afraid the shipping would cost more than the actual products
Plus possible taxes .. I hope a German online shop is willing to sell their stuff soon 😀
I have to say I love your slogan to your blog. That is so clever and cute!! I thought I would share that I am doing a Colour Pop giveaway on my blog! If you are interested? I am giving away one cheek colour, two eye shadows, and a lippie stix. I have more details on my YouTube channel Laynie Lashes or visit my blog http://www.fashionandlashes.wordpress.com to enter! enter!
Thanks for the heads up! I’ll check it out 🙂
Great!
I want to try their eyeshadows at some point !!! 🙂
I bought some. I hope to get a review up on those as well once I get more use out of them
I’ll wait for your review before I buy some 🙂
🙂
They look pretty but I agree they should sell them individually too. Or at least do a discount on the whole box. Great review! Love them all on you, but I’ll be passing.
Exactly, if you buy an eyeshadow palette it’s cheaper than if you buy all the eyeshadows individually. They should do the same for this
Pasties looks amazing on you!! I still need to try out the colour pop products! X
They’re nice. I recommend waiting until you have a long wish list or placing a large order with a friend. That way you can take advantage of the free shipping.
Ah I will do! Thanks!!
Gorgeous lipsticks, I’ve been seeing them around instagram, must be worth the hype! I hope you’re doing well! 🙂 x

Thanks Lena 😀
Lippie Stix are legit the only Lip colors that aren’t liquid to matte that I can where out! I love them! Thanks for sharing lip swatches of this collection! ❤
I’m glad you like them! What colors do you have?
Flawless, Lumiere, Brink, Creature, Go Fish, Pitch, and Yasmin ❤
I love the names of these 🙂
Love Cougar: what a pretty color 🙂
xx Anne
Thanks! That was the whole reason I bought the set 🙂
I love the price of the individual lippie stix, but the shipping (to my location at least) is almost the same price, so it’s a bit of a let down if you only want to buy one or two lippies. I have Lumiere though (had a $5 off coupon code which took care of the shipping!) and I love love love the color. It’s kind of a purpley/pinky/grayish I think? I don’t know, but I love it. I feel like I get a good amount of wear out of it too, but I typically throw a lip liner underneath it just in case. Sucks that this set isn’t sold separately. I love some, but not all of the colors would look good on my skin tone. But I wouldn’t have known that if you didn’t swatch them, so thank you very much for your post!
I know! I hate paying shipping on something so inexpensive. Luckily I got this as a gift and he bought enough that he got free shipping. I really wish they would sell these lipsticks individually. They all looked pretty nice on me, but there are definitely some I would have passed on.
Thanks for a great review…I don’t think I am missing out so much now. 🙂
🙂 Good. They are nice products, but not must haves in my opinion
I agree! I found that the formulas were different even though they had the same finish. Some were bad, some were good, and one was great out of the 10 I have. 6 of them are new with matching pencils so my review will be up them soon. Price vs quality is pretty good but def can’t compete with YSL or Nars. Maybe NYX..
Anyway I’m glad someone put an honest non-sponsored review up cause the hype is insane!
Haha, thanks for saying that. I was hesitant because there are so many reviews already
I like Pasties (haha the name!) and Cougar best on you! Getting a set like this with the variety of colours is nice – perhaps you can mix some of the colours together to tone down or amp up the shades? Just a thought. I haven’t tried any ColourPop items but will likely make an order next year!
Hmm, I hadn’t thought of mixing the shades, but that’s a great idea 🙂
This was an awesome review! Thanks for all the swatches!
Thank you!
Thirsty, Pasties, & Cougar look great on you!
Thank you! Cougar is my favorite
Pingback: Colourpop Super Shock Shadow Review & Swatches: Flux and Snap Dragon | Say Hello to Gorgeous
Thanks for sharing!!! I was thinking of trying them out but as well as you, I won’t give up my luxury lipstick addiction yet!😝
Haha, not yet! Have a great day
Same for you dear!😊
Nice review! I’ve heard so much about the brand but have never tried anything.
It’s one of those brands that you never hear nonbloggers talk about, but bloggers are all over
I purchased a dark purple in the color Leather with the matching lip pencil and it was far darker than I wanted. I still have it but, eh, they are nice but nothing spectacular. I do want to pick up more colors before I completely rule them out but you are right, they are not holding light to any of the better brands out there.
Exactly. Nice for the price and I would buy more, but people acting like they are the best ever are exaggerating
This is why I’m so upset at blogs who get real extra about a product like chill and just be honest
Parker is such a cute shade!
Yes, I like it too!
